SARVER, Charlie Ivan, 84, of Roanoke, died Friday, March 3, 1995. Mr. Sarver was retired from the City of Roanoke. 885 Roanoke Rd. (Rt. 220) Daleville 992-1066 and AGES 6th Clifton Forge Ridgeway 862-4860 Streets of Salem, died Friday, March 3, 1995, at Lewis Gale Hospital. He was born in Augusta County on July 6, 1914. He graduated from Emory and Henry College and went on to receive a graduate degree from V.

P. I. in 1959. He started his educational career as a teacher in Shoemaker High School in the Gate City in 1936 and went on to teach English and History at Andrew Lewis High School. In 1959 he became the principal of Oak Grove Elementary School and continued there until his retirement in June 1981.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he taught the Friend: ship Sunday School Class for many years. He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of the American Legion and the Sugar Loaf Lions Club and was a former Kawians Club Member. He held state offices in the P.T.A... V.E.A. and various other educational organizations.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 1 years, Mildred P. Thompson. Survivors include his wife, Barbara J. Thompson; three daughters and son-in-laws, Pat and Ben Zirkle, Judy and Frank Miller, both of Salem, Michele and Bob Walker of Richmond; sons and daughterin-law, Michael and Ann Green of California, Mark Green of Oregon; two grandsons, Jonathan Zirkle of Salem, Mark Miller and wife, Carman of Roanoke; and two greatgrandsons, Zachary Miller and Michael Green III; brother, Walter Thompson of Arizona. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 6, 1995, at 3:30 p.m.
