With fashion month over for another season, it's left us with fresh ideas and buzz-worthy outfits to get excited about for autumn/winter 2024 (even if right now we just want summer to arrive).
The good news is that many of the catwalks showcased down-to-earth dressing – think covetable looks that feel genuinely wearable without garnering funny looks at the supermarket.
Better still, many of the trends from the past few years like 'quiet luxury' and Western are evolving rather than drastically changing, meaning it's possible to get ahead and start wearing them now in order to make the most of your clothes.
Don't forget the autumn/winter 2023 sales, either; there are bound to be some gems left to unearth at bargain prices that will still feel fashion-forward next season, so long as you know what you're hunting for.
Here are the autumn/winter 2024 fashion trends to look for and look forward to now...
Autumn/Winter fashion trends: Blush pink
Emerging from the Barbie-induced craze for pink, softer, more wearable tones are coming to the forefront. Starting with slightly sugary pastel shades right now, autumn will welcome in a dusty blush that will complement an enticing palette of olive, conker and cream.

Autumn/Winter fashion trends: Trench coats
Of course, the trench is a timeless wardrobe staple all year round, but until now it’s felt more like a safe classic than a spotlight piece. That’s all about to change come autumn as many brands, from The Row’s voluminous trench to Cecilie Bahnsen’s silver-trimmed style, are making it exciting again. Plus, it’s the perfect coat for wearing with flowing dresses to your springtime engagements now.

Autumn/Winter fashion trends: New suiting
The trend for ‘quiet luxury’ has evolved into wearable workwear and next season is full of the cooler ways to do suits – think relaxed blazers and wide-leg trousers, as well as the rise of more feminine skirt co-ords. Wearing now with silky blouses or camisoles will make summer office dressing a breeze.

Autumn/Winter fashion trends: Block black
Trendsetter for the season, Valentino’s entirely black catwalk set the scene for the monochromatic trend ahead (just like it did in 2022 for vibrant pink). It may seem like an odd choice to wear in summer, but take it from the LBD: black never goes out of style.

Autumn/Winter fashion trends: '70s boho
Shearling at Chanel and double denim at Dior nodded to this retro revival for A/W 24, but the standout star for the '70s trend is Chloe’s chiffon blouses, aviator sunglasses and flowing boho dresses – all of which feel summer ready. Shop the trend now and then, when next season arrives, switch wooden platform sandals for over-the-knee boots, and finish with a trench coat.

Autumn/Winter fashion trends: Leopard print
Whether or not you’re in the ‘leopard is a neutral’ camp, it’s the print taking over the new season catwalks. Ways to wear the trend are already coming to light – take, for instance, the leopard trousers coveted by fashion editors that look great with a white shirt and barely-there sandals.
