Orange 🧡Continuing my rainbow series of furniture moodboards, this week it’s the turn of my favourite colour. This living room moodboard has maximalist leanings and is inspired by the jungle and rainforest aesthetic… I had to get a bit of my favourite pattern leopard print in there too! I’ve also used accents of cobalt blue to offset the amazing visual onslaught of orange here; let me know what you think of this scheme in the comments👇🏻

The best thing about being a home study student is……being able to complete your degree work wherever you like! My favourite spot is the field surrounding our beloved Eastbourne Borough Football Club. There is nothing better than basking in the warm spring and summer sunshine on a (zebra-patterned orange) picnic blanket, listening to the birds chirping in the background and grabbing some drinks and snacks from the little coffee shop while you work. Where is your favourite place to be productive?

I hope you had a great Easter break? As a family we definitely made the most of the sunny weekend, plus plenty of chocolate eggs were consumed! 😁I also had a train-free four days, so I had some time to make progress on my Uni assignment number 4. At the moment I am sourcing FF&E items for my studio apartment design, comparing at least two options for each piece that I need. Once I’ve sourced items for each area, I then put together a quick moodboard layout to check that all of the solutions I’ve selected work well together in each zone (see iPad screen in the image to see an example). I’m about halfway through with the sourcing now, so I’m looking forward to continuing making progress on this this week and working towards being able to start the next stage of the project! What are you working on this week?

Red ❤️As promised, here is the first in my new series of furniture moodboards, working through the colours of the rainbow. I’ve commenced the series with red, using a stunning leaf and key patterned wallpaper by Cole and Son Wallpapers as a starting point. The wallpaper caught my eye at a recent YesColours event, where founder Emma Bestley had paired the design on the moodboarding table with some of their exciting new paint shades. What do you think of this scheme? Would you have this deep and moody range of reds in your living room?

Here’s a round up of how March went……From working trains to going to watch our local football team Eastbourne Borough FC play, from making furniture moodboards to working on my Uni assignment, and from visiting London Design Week 2024 to going to YesColours’ Colour Collective event in London, I’ve fit a lot in this month and it’s been both fun and stressful!Have a happy Easter weekend (and enjoy the clocks springing forward tonight!) and let’s look forward to seeing what April brings ☀️ (I downloaded this reel from my Instagram page, so if you fancy following me over there, my handle is @rhidesigninteriors)

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about how important it is to have people around you who you love, make you happy, support you, listen to you, cheerlead you, encourage and inspire you… even when you’re feeling disillusioned yourself. The photos below show examples of all of the above for many reasons. There are also many more of you here on social media who support me; I’m looking at you other family members, my university colleagues and those of you who consistently cheerlead my interior design journey through your likes and comments 😊Who is important to you?

This is the last furniture moodboard I’ve made to celebrate various paint companies’ Colour Of The Year 2024, and it’s the turn of Dulux’s Sweet Embrace. The paint colour they’ve chosen is a shade of blush pink with warm grey undertones, which is “a subtle and sophisticated colour…inspired by the softness of feathers and evening clouds”. Dulux suggest that that Sweet Embrace is a great foundation colour, and that is how I’ve used it here, pairing it with chartreuse yellows and a range of warm browns. On my last moodboard post I asked my followers on Instagram what they’d like to see from my next ones seeing as I’ve finished posting this Colour Of The Year series now. One of my lovely followers suggested working through the colours of the rainbow, so keep an eye out here on LinkedIn for the first post in my rainbow series of furniture moodboards 👀

As well as working on my interior design degree assignments, putting in shifts on the railway and posting furniture moodboards and the like on social media, I’ve been working away in the background building my own interior design business (using my shiny new iPad- see photo!)Realistically it’s not easy to do all of the above without feeling a certain degree of fatigue and a touch of apathy at times, however I am passionate about interior design and I am determined to make this a success 💪🏻Coming soon to Rhidesign Interiors is:🖤 A brand new suite of client design packages🖤 A brand new website and blog🖤 A brand new email newsletter (do let me know if you’d like to sign up in advance and I will add you to my list 😊)Also do follow my business page Rhidesign Interiors for further updates when I have some.I am striving to launch all of the above in the first half of the year, so watch this space! 👀

This is the penultimate moodboard in the series I’ve made to mark various paint and wallpaper suppliers’ Colours Of The Year for 2024! Farrow and Ball chose a palette of colours rather than selecting just one shade, and they have picked a range of clay tones (including Jitney, Stirabout, Oxford Stone and Tanner’s Brown).I could hear maximalism queen Siobhan Murphy saying “it’s all a bit greige” when I was putting the board together 😅 so I’ve livened up the colour scheme in this classic bedroom concept with pops of light denim blue and duck egg as well as a gorgeous patterned rug. There is just one Colour Of The Year 2024 moodboard left to share, then I am very much open to suggestions for ideas, colours or patterns on which I should base my next boards on…Please do leave a comment with what you’d like to see from me next 👇🏻
