A general introduction to what you need to know to make any money on Black Desert Online.
I thought that Greedy Goblin did a great job at explaining this part, so I give credits to him or her. I simply copied, pasted, and edited most of this first part of “General” here because I believed that some of the wording used was confusing.
First Thing to Know: The Market System
1. The most important is the fixed price range. You cannot just list the items on whatever price you please. There are hard-coded minimum and maximum prices. When you try to set up an order, you can see the minimum prices (red circle) and maximum prices (above red circle). Depending on the stock (yellow circle), you may want to adjust your price of your item you are trying to sell (green circle).
2. Most cases the market equilibrium price is out of this range.Equilibrium, meaning how much people would truly pay for the item. If it is above the range, the market for that particular item is generally empty.
For example the pay-to-win items can only be listed lower than people would pay for them, so they sell in seconds. The red arrow in this case indicates there is 0 stock in value packs. Value packs being in high demand can only be sold for at maximum, almost 10 Million, a price that is cheaper than what people would truly buy them for:
3. When the equilibrium (how much people would truly pay for the item) is below the range, the market is overfilled. Both on the market list and on the set up order pages you can see the current listed(red circle) and all time listed items (green circle). If the price is below range, it may be of your best interest to put the item you are trying to sell at the lowest price.
The server is one year old, so listed*365/all_time gives you how many days you have to wait on average to sell:
4.Since you have only a maximum of 30 market orders, it is best to not sell unpopular items or hold items in the market that have not sold for weeks. If you cannot sell the item fast, just vendor the item or use it in a recipe.
5. Watch out for partially sold stacks. For example you list a 200 items stack. Someone buys them partially. Then another one buys some. Finally your stack is down to a few items and no one cares to buy it since they want 100+, so they just scroll down and buy a full stack.
When you see such “midways settlement” stacks, just press the button, you get the money for the sold ones and get the unsold back. You can re-list them when you have a full stack:
6. If you would like to make the most profit from the market, get a “Value Pack”. Value Packs cost $15/month. It has several effects, but the most important is the market tax reduction. Without it you pay 35% tax, with it 14.5%. That’s a big difference, especially if you purchase some of your ingredients.
Main Ways To Make Money
- Workers:this is the most AFK way to get money. You hire NPC workers who go to various locations and harvest goods for you. These goods are collected to the warehouses of the towns where the workers live. You move the goods to one location and sell them on the marketplace or use them for other moneymaking ventures. The downside is that you need lots of contribution points to have a decent empire, though you can get CP in a decent rate. Approximated income is 10M/day with 10-20 mins maintenance.
- Cooking: is mostly an auxiliary activity for workers, because workers need fuel: mostly beer. You can buy beer on the marketplace and it’s not a bad idea to do so when you are all set up. However until you reach 300 contribution points, the best way of getting CP is cooking. Besides getting beer for cheaper than on the market, you get various collectible items which you can turn in for small rewards. One of them is a big reward: lots of contribution points! You can cook beer from corn, potato, barley, wheat and sweet potato, make sure you have workers on these nodes and don’t sell your stockpile! You can make money by cooking rare food that people buy, but if you like that way of making money, I’d suggest Alchemy!
- Alchemy: it is hands down the most profitable profession in BDO. You can reach up to 30M/hour doing it. But unlike everything else on this page it’s not at all AFK. You spend your time running up and down, juggling with materials and looking up recipes, interrupted only by short crafting sessions. Besides time spent actively (grinding), you will need a functional brain, several pearl purchases and up-front effort to set it up. But if you are up to it, you’ll be extremely rich in a few days!
- Processing: you select materials in your storage, press a few buttons and go AFK for a few hours (for the night, while at work). When you are back, you’ll have processed materials (shards, planks, ingots, plywoods and other). The price difference between raw materials and processed ones can provide up to 3M/hour if there is little competition (if the market is not overcrowded) but 1M/hour is easy to get. As you can send the game to tray while not playing, you can easily process 20 hours a day, providing 20-40M/day with 10-30 minutes maintenance.
- Secret shop: as you are online, you gather energy points. You can use it for gathering, which is a particularly annoying form of grinding. Instead, I’d suggest to blow it on the secret shop. It offers you items for energy and if you are lucky, you can get 2-5M/day for a few clicks.
- Trading: To trade, you first have to process raw materials into various ingots and plywoods (or buy them on the market). Then use workers and workshops to create special items: timber crates and ingot crates. The items have creation location information. Then you have to move them as far as possible from this location and turn in to an NPC who gives you lots of silver.
Easy and less complicated ways to make money that any player can do.
1) Combat Way:
Sausan Garisson (~1.5M/Hour):
Please note: I do NOT recommend this area just to make money since there are other places that you could grind (such as Catfish) that will give you a much bigger profit. However, if you are level 54 and trying to level up, this may be an okay area to grind for exp to 56 while making profit.
Before grinding in this area, it is suggested to be around Level 54 with full and upgraded +15 starter gear. Also, get ready to face any pvpers since there are a lot in this area.
2) Boss Scrolls
Ancient Relic Crystals (~2 Million+/Hour)

- Completing this Scroll Obtains:
- Hunter Seals (Convert to Armor Stones)

3) Gathering
Gathering typically grants around 1 Million to 1.5 Million per hour.
Before you start gathering from the resources A, B, C, D, or E below, please consider the following:
- Highly Recommended to: Wear a gathering uniform, eat Balenos Special, ~Level 3 Gathering, Shining Steel Tools
- Tools Needed:Tanning Knife, Butcher Knife, Syringe
- Other Notes:Recommended to have a lot of energy because gathering will take up a ton!
You will need tools to obtain hides, blood, or meat! For hides, you may process them to obtain more profit. This will be further explained in Part 4 of this Money Making Guide which is “Processing”.
A) Goat Mountain (~1.5 Million+/Hour)
Kill Sheep and gather to obtain the following:
- Tanning Knife: Soft Hide
- Syringe: Sheep Blood
- Butcher Knife: Sheep Meat
The location of the area is:
B)Killing Lizards (~1.5 Million+/Hour)
Kill lizards andobtain hard hide with your tanning tool.
The location of lizards are on the triangular part of the map, shown in the following image:
C)Killing Boars (1.5 Million+/Hour)
Kill boars and gather to obtain the following:
- Tanning Knife: Pig Hide
- Syringe: Pig Blood
- Butcher Knife: Pork
The location of boars is as follows (left of Western Guard Camp):
D) Fir Sap(~1 Million+/Hour)
Use your syringe on Fir Trees to gather Fir Sap.
There are many locations for Fir Trees, however the following image gives the location of a Fir Forest:
E) Weasel, Foxes, Wolves Gathering(~1 Million+/Hour)
After killing weasels, foxes, or wolves, you can obtain blood, hides, or meat from them. The best profit depends on what is selling the best on the market. It is highly recommended to look at the market to see what is the best item to harvest for profit at the moment of time.
Typical weasel, fox, and wolf location:
4) Processing
This is optional, but I encourage you to use Craftsmen Clothes.
Drying (~1.1M+/Hour)
Important: If weather is sunny and clear, you can dry the hides. If it is raining, you will not be able to.
By drying hides from the animals gathered from in Part 3, you can obtain the following:
- Lizard Hide -> Hard Hide
- Hard Hide is used for horse gear.
- Sheep Hide or Fox Hide -> Soft Hide
- Pig Hide -> Tough Hide
4) Fishing (1.2M+/Hour)
The best thing about fishing is that there is no energy needed and that you are able to go AFK if you need to go somewhere or do something. However, there are a couple things you should note before going:
- Tools Needed: Fishing Boat (Owned or Someone’s Fishing Boat), fishing rod
- Suggested to Wear: Fish Costume or some costume that helps raise the fishing skill
- Fishing Rod Suggested to Use:
- Triple Float Rod: Catches 3 Fish at Once. However, has a high level requirement.
- Epheria Rod: High Durability
As of fishing, look for hot spots in the ocean. The hot spots will ensure you will get the best profit for fishing and a lesser chance of obtaining junk items like fishing bones while fishing.
This Google Documents Linkgives a chart of grind spots that will give you a roughinsight on where you could grind to make money at the moment in addition to particular drops and suggested AP/DP.
