1.2.
Specific Macros for Frost Death Knights
1.2.1.
Breath of Sindragosa Macro
- #showtooltip Breath of Sindragosa
- /cast Pillar of Frost
- /cast !Breath of Sindragosa
- /cast Raise Dead
- /use trinket
This macro bakes in a ton of off-gcd spells and abilities into a singlebutton.Replace the "trinket" here with whichever trinket you want to use.The "!" before Breath is added to prevent unintentionally cancelling its effectby double-tapping the macro.
1.2.2.
Obliteration Opener Macro
- #showtooltip Pillar of Frost
- /cast Pillar of Frost
- /cast Howling Blast
- /cast Raise Dead
- /cast Empower Rune Weapon
- /use trinket
This macro is very useful when playing with the Obliteration talent.By putting
Howling Blast in the macro, you will trigger the first procof
Killing Machine immediately. It also brings in multiple off-gcdspells and abilities. You would generally use this macro straight after yourinitial
Remorseless Winter and
Chill Streak (waiting for theGCD to become ready before pressing it!).
1.2.3.
Obliteration Trigger Macros
When playing Obliteration, it is crucial that you generate thefirst proc of
Killing Machine as soon as possible within your
Obliteration window. The best way of doing this is to create a macrothat will use
Pillar of Frost and then immediately use one of
Howling Blast,
Frost Strike,
Soul Reaper or
Glacial Advance. Thus,we need four distinct macros to use depending on the situation when we enterour burst window. To be fair, you can do this almost as well by just being quickwith your button presses, but you will lose around 2% DPS!
- #showtooltip Pillar of Frost
- /cast Pillar of Frost
- /cast Howling Blast
- #showtooltip Pillar of Frost
- /cast Pillar of Frost
- /cast Frost Strike
- #showtooltip Pillar of Frost
- /cast Pillar of Frost

- /cast Soul Reaper
1.2.4.
Death Grip Mouseover Macro

This macro will cast Death Grip on your mouseover target.
1.2.5.
Anti-Magic Zone Cursor
- #showtooltip Anti-Magic Zone
- /cast [@cursor] Anti-Magic Zone
This macro instantly casts Anti-Magic Zone at your cursor's location. It is useful for activating the Zone a tiny bit more quickly by spamming thismacro button. It also generally helps in placing it effectively.
1.2.6.
Control Undead
Controlling an Undead creature in dungeons is a great way to boost your DPSand help your group out. It does need re-controlling every 2 minutes, and thismacrois perfect for that! It will target your pet, dismiss it, and then instantlycontrolit again.
- #showtooltip Control Undead
- /target pet
- /script PetDismiss()
- /cast Control Undead
2.
Addons
2.1.
Generic Addons for Death Knights
2.2.
ElvUI
Here, at Icy Veins, we useElvUIfor all our characters. This addon is a complete replacement of the defaultUser Interface. It comes with almost everything you need to perform properly:action bars, cooldown timers, proc display, etc.
We strongly recommend that you get this addon and our forum moderator Pandacho has writtena quick configuration guide for it.
2.2.1.
Boss Mods: Deadly Boss Mods or Bigwigs
Boss mods are addons that warn you about boss abilities and give youlive advice on how to handle some mechanics. We strongly recommend you toget one such addon. At Icy Veins, we mostly useDeadly Boss Mods, the most popular boss mod. A good alternative isBig Wigs.
2.2.2.
GTFO
GTFO is a lightweightaddon that notifies you when you are standing in harmful effects or when youare making other such mistakes. It is very useful, even if your boss mod isalready alerting you of such things.
2.2.3.
Parrot or Mik's Scrolling Battle Text
Parrot andMik's Scrolling Battle Text are highlycustomisable addons for displaying floating battle text while in combat (incomingheals, damage of your spells, etc.). They both work very well by default.
2.2.4.
Weak Auras
WeakAuras is anextremely useful addon that allows you to have visual effects on your screen, helping you track your buffs, debuffs and cooldowns. It is highly customisableand it can make it much, much easier to keep track of your procs and play yourspec more proficiently. It can also be used for a variety of otherfunctions.
2.2.5.
Recount / Skada / Details!
Recount is awell known addon that most people use for displaying current DPS or HPS(Healing Per Second). This add-on is not really lightweight, and provides avery high amount of information (and it can sometimes cause issues withperformance). It is generally a good option to use Recount for checking what youtake damage from and if the share of damage/healing you do with each of yourabilities is similar to that of other players of your class.
An alternative to Recount (similar in function, so the choice is personalpreference) is Details!.
A lightweight alternative to Recount and Details! is Skada Damage Meter.
2.2.6.
Omen Threat Meter
Omen Threat Meteris the most popular addon for displaying the current threat levels on yourtarget. We recommend you to use it to avoid taking aggro when the tank is still buildingup threat on an enemy.
2.2.7.
Grid and GridClickSets (Optional)
ElvUI comes with decent raid frames. The only real reason for usingGrid andGridClickSetsis if you want to be able to mouseover dead raid or party members toresurrect them with Raise Ally. If you choose to go with Grid, then youmight want to also useGridStatusRaidDebuff.
2.3.
Specific Addons for Frost Death Knights
Currently, we do not believe that you need any additional addons to play yourspecialisation to its full potential.
