Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained (2024)

Summary

  • In the upcoming movie Deadpool & Wolverine, several characters from the X-Men universe and Deadpool series are set to return.
  • A number of characters who played prominent roles in earlier Deadpool movies will also return.
  • Additional cameos from the rest of the MCU and beyond are also planned for the threequel.

Deadpool & Wolverine is shaping up to be the MCU’s biggest crossover event since Avengers: Endgame, with plenty of cameos throughout. Deadpool had his live-action debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009, but it wasn’t until 2016 that the character was fully realized. On both occasions, the actor who played the role was Ryan Reynolds, a superfan of the Merc with the Mouth, and Reynolds was even referenced in a 2004 comic by Deadpool to describe the character’s appearance.

Up to this point, the character was only seen in the Fox universe, but with Disney acquiring Fox in 2019, the time has finally come for Deadpool and the Fox X-Men universe to come into the MCU family. And in order to mark the momentous occasion, Deadpool & Wolverine has cast many popular actors who have appeared in Marvel movies outside the MCU.

Later, Garner starred in a spin-off as the character, but Elektra bombed becoming one of Marvel’s lowest earning movies of all time. Deathstrike

Last Seen: X-Men 2 (2003)

In X-Men 2, Wolverine tracks down the people responsible for binding his skeleton with adamantium in a cruel experiment that almost killed him. However, upon arriving at the facility, he faced off against another recipient who stayed loyal to the program. Deathstrike was a formidable foe with similar adamantium enhancements, but she was ultimately killed by Wolverine. Her character in D&W is likely a variant from another reality, but both are played by Kelly Hu.

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained (6)

Azazel from Marvel Comics is the father of Nightcrawler, and a teleporting demon from another dimension. In the original X-Men movie, Toad was played by Ray Park, who also played Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace just one year earlier. Now Park is set to return alongside many of the other former members of the Brotherhood in Deadpool & Wolverine.

The character, as portrayed by Dania Ramirez, is returning in Deapool & Wolverine, and it appears her alignment has not shifted.

The Russian is a villain that is frequently tied to characters like the Punisher, and in that vein, he was last seen played by Kevin Nash in the 2004 movie, The Punisher. However, there is a clear scene which showcases a character in the iconic red and white striped shirt which The Russian is famous for, and the actor Billy Clements posted on Instagram to confirm his character was in the trailer with a snapshot of the scene. It may be a different actor, but the presence of the threatening villain is still very exciting.

Alioth

Last Seen: Loki Season 1

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained (11)

Further tying in with the TVA and the crossing between the multiverse, the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer confirmed the presence of one terrifying threat that has appeared very recently in the MCU. In Loki season 1, when Loki makes it to the void at the end of time, he finds a number of variants of himself trapped there. However, it isn’t long before he encounters the terrifying monster made of smoke and lightning named Alioth. The creature being in the trailer confirms at least one location which will feature in D&W, which also explains the number of variants present.

Colossus

Last Seen: Deadpool 2 (2018)

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained (12)

Colossus may be a staple of the Deadpool trilogy, but he was also brought in as a cameo to connect the wider X-Men universe to Deadpool in 2016. The character was also present in both of the earlier X-Men trilogies, played by Daniel Cudmore until Stefan Kapicic took over the role for the Deadpool series, providing the voice for the now permanently transformed character. Kapicic will again reprise the role in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained (13) Related Deadpool 2 Accidentally Made Deadpool & Wolverine’s Timeline Confusing

Director Shawn Levy clarified Deadpool & Wolverine’s setting, but a cameo in Deadpool 2 makes the MCU film’s timeline somewhat more confusing.

Negasonic Teenage Warhead

Last Seen: Deadpool 2 (2018)

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained (14)

Another mainstay of the Deadpool films, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, has appeared in both of the first entries and is now returning for Deadpool & Wolverine. However, since this third film takes the character to the MCU, it’s worth mentioning Negasonic as a cameo, who is now officially appearing in the MCU. Negasonic is one of the teenage mutants studying at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. She will be played by Brianna Hildebrand, who also portrayed the role in Deadpool and Deadpool 2.

Yukio

Last Seen: Deadpool 2 (2018)

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained (15)

Yukio has appeared in both The Wolverine, where she was played by Rila f*ckushima, and in Deadpool 2, where she is played by Shioli Kutsuna. Depending on the timeline, her powers differ, with The Wolverine’s character having the ability to predict a person’s death, and the Deadpool 2 character controlling electricity. Thus far, only the version played by Kutsuna has been confirmed to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, but it would be interesting to see the variants interact if f*ckushima also returns.

Shatterstar

Last Seen: Deadpool 2 (2018)

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained (16)

Shatterstar has a brief role in Deadpool 2. When Deadpool recruits a group of superheros to be a part of the X-Force, Shatterstar is one of the successful new recruits. However, despite passing the interview, very little is seen of th character, as he, and almost all the other members of the team die before the mission gets into full swing. He is an alien from Mojoworld, and extremely arrogant. With Lewis Tan returning to reprise the role in Deadpool & Wolverine, hopefully the character will get more screentime, but that seems unlikely as Wade will not be keen to share the spotlight even more than he already is.

Dopinder

Last Seen: Deadpool 2 (2018)

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained (17)

Dopinder went from being a random taxi driver Deadpool hires in the 2016 movie, to being Deadpool’s personal taxi guy, and a fan-favorite character in the films. Dopinder is played by Karan Soni, and despite his lack of powers, he will be present in Deadpool & Wolverine as one of the standout characters from the trilogy. However, this will be his first time officially in the MCU.

Peter is another random human with no mutant abilities or special powers. But he does have a can-do attitude. Peter manages to join Deadpool’s superhero team, the X-Force, and while the rest of the team plans to dive head first into danger, Peter sensibly warns of the high winds, which lead to the character’s accidental deaths. When Deadpool steals Cable’s time travel device, he goes back in time to warn Peter and saves his life, which provides the basis for the character returning in Deadpool & Wolverine, once again played by Rob Delaney.

Vanessa Carlysle

Last Seen: Deadpool 2 (2018)

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained (20)

In the comics, Vanessa is a mutant with the ability to shapeshift, but thus far in the Deadpool series, she appears to be a normal human woman. Prior to Wade’s diagnosis, and the experimental treatment that led to his scarring and immortality, Wade and Vanessa were engaged. Vanessa has since died and been resurrected by Wade, and is set to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine. Morena Baccarin will reprise the role.

Ant-Man (Skull)

Last Seen: Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (2023)

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained (21)

Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, aka Scott Lang, has been a staple of the MCU since 2015s Ant-Man. Since becoming an Avenger, Scott has helped save the world, and he was instrumental in helping the Avenger’s learn about quantum space, which led to the heroes bringing everyone back from Thanos’ snap. While Ant-Man remains alive and well in the MCU, as he was last seen fighting and defeating a powerful version of Kang, the Deadpool & Wolverine variant hasn’t fared as well, as his skull appears to house several villains.

Rob McElhenney
